Chicago Gay Men's Chorus (CGMC) is thrilled to announce its upcoming fall cabaret, Fabulous Fifties, featuring 28 talented singing members of the Chorus. This exciting musical journey back to the golden era of the 1950s will take place on Friday, September 20, 2024, at 8:00 PM at the Kehrein Center for the Arts, located at 5628 W Washington Blvd, and on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 7:00 PM and 9:00 PM at the Center on Halsted, 3656 N Halsted St, Chicago, IL.
This cabaret will mark CGMC's debut performance at the Kehrein Center for the Arts in the Austin neighborhood. “We are absolutely delighted to bring our unique brand of entertainment to this area of the city for the first time,” said Kevin Corbett, Executive Director of CGMC. “Our mission has always been to spread joy and foster connection through music, and we’re looking forward to performing in this vibrant neighborhood.”
The Fabulous Fifties cabaret will transport audiences back to the iconic decade with a lively selection of music straight from the 1950s. Attendees can expect to hear favorites from beloved musicals like West Side Story, Bye Bye Birdie, and Gypsy, along with timeless classics such as “Come Fly With Me,” “Come On-A My House,” and “To Be Loved.”
James Morehead, Artistic Director of CGMC, shared his excitement about the upcoming performances: “The 1950s were a time of extraordinary music and cultural change, and we can’t wait to bring these classic tunes to life on stage. Our members have been working hard to deliver a performance that’s not just nostalgic, but full of heart and energy.”

ABOUT CHICAGO GAY MEN’S CHORUS
The Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus (CGMC) has been an integral part of Chicago’s cultural and gay communities since 1983. For more than three decades, the chorus has entertained audiences across the continent with innovative musical programming exploring everything from love to politics to the sometimes fabulous, sometimes challenging world of being gay; often all at the same time. The Chicago City Council passed a resolution celebrating CGMC’s 40th Anniversary in December 2023, and the Chorus was recognized by Mayor Brandon Johnson.
