CENTER STAGE AT RUTH PAGE March 24th & 25th

Ruth Page Center for the Arts is proud to present its annual celebration of its founder and dance icon Ruth Page’s (1899 – 1991) birth, Center Stage at Ruth Page, Friday, March 24 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, March 25 at 7:30 p.m., at Ruth Page Center for the Arts, 1016 N. Dearborn St. Both nights include a wine and dessert reception in the lobby. Tickets are $25 for each night or $40 for both the March 24 and 25 performances. Tickets may be purchased at http://www.ruthpage.org/centerstage2023.

Center Stage at Ruth Page annually features the in-residence organizations who call the Ruth Page Center for the Arts home, the 2023 program continues a tradition started last year and will also include invited dance companies from the Chicago dance community. Dancers from the Ruth Page Civic Ballet Training Company and advanced-level dancers from the Ruth Page School of Dance will perform both nights.

Friday, March 24 at 7:30 p.m. performance includes:

• Hedwig Dances

• PARA.MAR Dance Theatre 

• Porchlight Music Theatre

• Ruth Page Civic Ballet Training Company

• Ruth Page School of Dance

Saturday, March 25 at 7:30 p.m. performance includes:

• Chicago Dance Crash

• Chicago Repertory Ballet

• DanceWorks Chicago

• Ensemble Español

• Ruth Page Civic Ballet Training Company

• Ruth Page School of Dance

The two-night event will include a mixture of preview presentations, works in progress, and tried and true fan favorites, as well as one world premiere.  

Friday’s program features the world premiere of "Abscission," a contemporary work by guest choreographer Adrián Marcelo Sáenz, performed by the Ruth Page Civic Ballet Training Company. It will also feature a preview performance of Hedwig Dances’ META | MOR | PHOS - A Triadic Fiction (a co-production between Hedwig Dances Chicago and the Bauhaus Foundation Dessau). The full work will premiere at the Ruth Page Center on April 14-15 and 21-22. 

Saturday features a high-energy mixed program with companies presenting works in a variety of styles - classical ballet, contemporary ballet, Hip Hop/Contemporary Fusion, Spanish Dance, and Contemporary dance.
