Canterbury Summer Theatre presents the musical comedy, Baby, performing July 9-19.
Baby is a warm, funny and touching look at parenthood, written by Sybille Pearson along with legendary Broadway composers, Richard Maltby, Jr., and David Shire (Big, Starting Here, Starting Now, Closer Than Ever).
Its original Broadway premiere garnered seven Tony Award nominations.
Baby examines the journey from morning sickness to hormone injections to existential angst. Three couples on a university campus deal with the impending arrival of a baby at different stages of life.
Danny and Lizzie are college students, barely at the beginning of their adult lives; thirty-somethings Nicki and Pam will do whatever it takes to conceive; Alan and Arlene are looking forward to seeing their last child graduate from college... when a night of unexpected passion lands them back where they started!
Direction is by entertainment veteran, RJ Magee, making his Canterbury debut. Magee most recently was on faculty at Midwestern University in Texas, and besides being a seasoned performer, has worked extensively as a talent manager and casting director in NYC.
Choreography is by Grace Kelly Kretzmer, with music direction by Rebecca Richmond.
The cast includes Devon Baxa, Christopher Conte, Jakob Innes, Grace Kelly Kretzmer, Kacey Marovich, Jacob Meza and Emilie Richardson.
