
The Cancer Resource Centre offers free educational programs and in-person/virtual mind/body/spirit classes and support groups to individuals in Northwest Indiana with a cancer diagnosis, their family members and their caregivers.

Yoga, Monday May 23, offered from 9 – 10 a.m. Breathe and stretch your body and mind. Yoga classes are therapeutic as well as restorative. Class will conclude with a relaxation segment to enhance overall well-being and peace.
Gynecological Cancer Support Group, Monday May 23, offered from 11 – 12 p.m. For all women facing gynecological cancers such as Ovarian, Cervical and Uterine. It allows patients and survivors an opportunity to meet in an informal setting to provide support and share experiences with one another.
Sound Healing, Monday May 23, offered from 11 – 12 p.m. The pure sounds of the crystal bowls will wash away stress and still the mind. Wear loose clothing; bring a blanket and pillow for comfort.
Wellness Support Group, Tuesday May 24, offered from 10 – 11 a.m. or 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. This support group meets to share feelings, receive support and learn ways to cope with the experience of having cancer.
Breast Cancer Support Group, Tuesday May 24, offered from 6 – 7p.m. For all with a breast cancer diagnosis. Newly diagnosed to long term survivors are welcome to share their concerns, stories and experiences.
Hope Network Support Group, Wednesday May 25, offered from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. at St. Mary Medical Valparaiso Health Center. For cancer patients and caregivers come for educational sessions and support to share thoughts, feelings and ideas.

Chi Gong, Thursday May 26, offered from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Learn this ancient healing art of breath, movement, non-movement and meditation. Experience this therapeutic form of Eastern medicine and feel revitalized. You will be led through a one hour session of warm-ups, positions and focused movements.
Knit One . . . Nurture Too, Thursday May 26, offered from 1 – 2:30 p.m. Join our fun-filled class for knitting and crocheting blankets, hats, scarves, etc. All skill levels are welcome. Supplies are provided or you may bring your own.
Chair Yoga, Thursday May 26, offered from 2 – 3 p.m. Designed for those who have difficulty support in a regular yoga environment. You may sit or use a chair for balance. Kriya is a holistic, whole body experience; it works to calm the nervous system; strengthens and quiets the mind and body.
Tai Chi, Friday May 27, offered from 9 – 10 a.m. Tai Chi has been practiced for centuries by men and women of all ages and fitness levels. The art of Tai Chi is considered “Meditation in Motion”. Classes emphasize balance, posture, breathing techniques, concentration and complete relaxation.
Oncology Rehabilitation Lecture, Friday May 27, offered from 1 – 2 p.m. Join Community Healthcare System Oncology Rehabilitation professionals at the Cancer Resource Centre for a free informational session. This presentation will focus on how Oncology Rehabilitation assists patients to maintain or restore function, maximize independence and improve quality of life. This program is offered in-person or virtually for your convenience.
