Cancer Resource Centre Programs for the Week of April 10th

The Cancer Resource Centre offers free educational programs and in-person/virtual mind/body/spirit classes and support groups to individuals in Northwest Indiana with a cancer diagnosis, their family members and their caregivers.

The Centre is located at 926 Ridge Road in Munster, Indiana. Registration is required. For information about joining a support group and to schedule your orientation, please call 219-836-3349 or visit www.cancerresourcecentre.com.

Yoga, Monday April 10, offered from 9 – 10 a.m. Breathe and stretch your body and mind. Yoga classes are therapeutic as well as restorative. Class will conclude with a relaxation segment to enhance overall well-being and peace.

Sound Healing, Monday April 10, offered from 11 – 12 p.m. The pure sounds of the crystal bowls will wash away stress and still the mind. Wear loose clothing; bring a blanket and pillow for comfort. 

Reiki/Reflexology, Monday April 10, offered 1 – 3 p.m. by appointment only. Reiki complements all other healing arts; Reflexology, the practice of treating the whole body by touching the feet and sometimes the palms, is an especially valuable example of a therapy that complements Reiki successfully.

Wellness Support Group, Tuesday April 11, offered from 10 – 11 a.m. This support group meets to share feelings, receive support and learn ways to cope with the experience of having cancer.

Healing Hearts Support Group, Wednesday April 12, offered 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. provides an opportunity for those who have lost a loved one to share experiences, struggles, feelings and triumphs. Healing Hearts support group offers helpful information and support in a comfortable atmosphere and facilitated by a bereavement facilitator from Hospice of Calumet Area.

Yoga, Monday April 12, offered from 3-4 p.m. Breathe and stretch your body and mind. Yoga classes are therapeutic as well as restorative. Class will conclude with a relaxation segment to enhance overall well-being and peace.

Reiki, Wednesday April 12, offered from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Reiki is a technique that aids the in releasing stress and tension by creating a deep relaxation and inner balance. A prescription from your physician is required.

Lung Cancer Networking Group, Wednesday April 12, offered from 10-11 a.m. This is for anyone with a lung cancer diagnosis. Participants are invited to come together to share their experiences and concerns.

Chi Gong, Thursday April 13, offered from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Learn this ancient healing art of breath, movement, non-movement and meditation. Experience this therapeutic form of Eastern medicine and feel revitalized. You will be led through a one hour session of warm-ups, positions and focused movements.

Knit One Nurture too…, Thursday April 13, offered from 1-2:30 p.m. join our fun-filled class for knitting and crocheting blankets, hats 7 scarves etc. All skill levels are welcomed. Supplies are provided.

Chair Yoga, Thursday April 13, offered from 2 – 3 p.m. Designed for those who have difficulty support in a regular yoga environment. You may sit or use a chair for balance. Kriya is a holistic, whole body experience; it works to calm the nervous system; strengthens and quiets the mind and body.

Tai Chi, Friday April 14, offered 9 – 10 a.m. Tai Chi has been practiced for centuries by men and women of all ages and fitness levels. The art of Tai Chi is considered “Meditation in Motion”. Classes emphasize balance, posture, breathing techniques, concentration and complete relaxation.

Nature Journaling, Friday April 14, offered from 10-Noon. This activity can be done outdoors or indoors, in your own back yard, neighborhood park or even online. Just bring a pencil and paper!
