Bishop Noll’s band program has made a full return to its busy schedule and has received recognition for its hard work and dedication. Most recently, the band participated in the Chicago Columbus Day Parade Oct. 10 and was voted by the parade committee as overall best band, receiving first prize of $1,000.
The band’s next parade performance will take place Nov. 5 at the Hammond Veteran Appreciation Day Parade. The parade begins at 10 a.m., traveling from Olcott Avenue, down 173rd Street and ending at Hessville Park Veterans Memorial.
BNI’s Mariachi Band also gives back to the community, most recently performing at Burns-Hicks Elementary in Hammond to celebrate National Hispanic Month.
This summer, the Bishop Noll band was selected to represent the state of Indiana and compete in the Reliaquest Bowl in Tampa, Florida, Dec. 29 to Jan. 2.
“These kids have a special gift, and they want to give back to the community. The fruits of their hard work are paying off with the honor of representing the state of Indiana down in Florida,” said Rocco Carioto, BNI band director.
Bishop Noll is at 1519 Hoffman St. in Hammond, Indiana. Visit bishopnoll.org for more information.
