The Lake County Sheriff’s Department wished to advise residents that recently suspects have been contacting residents around Lake County stating that the resident has a “warrant” and has to pay a certain about of money to get it “cleared.”
The suspects are also spoofing their number so that when it comes up on your caller ID it actually reads that the call is from the Sheriff’s Department.
Please remember that NO police department will ever call you to advise of an outstanding warrant or ask you to pay them money over the phone. Please share the information about this scam with friends and family, especially senior citizens
