This is the story of a girl and her rainbow tulle skirt. Magical and invisible to all but the girl, the skirt is a source of joy, wonder, and strength. As the girl grows and changes, so does her magical skirt! On her dark days, the girl’s rainbow tulle skirt is a bright reminder to celebrate her inner sparkle. Tears & Tulle is a book for all ages that was inspired by The Tears & Tulle Movement, a women’s empowerment project started by Gina Bell. Gina’s rainbow tulle skirt is a wonderful reminder of the magic and color that exists in all of us. We can access this inner magic even when life doesn’t go the way we hope!

Her companion book, Tears & Taffeta, also inspired a movement of the same name, continues the thematic exploration of resilience and identity while telling the story of a boy and his magical cape. The book Emergence reflects Bell’s poetic voice, and stage rap she recites at many of the events she’s asked to
“Emergence is about expanding out into the world, showing up for ourselves, and taking up space” Bell explains. “We make space for both the mud and the magic”
Building on the literary foundation of Tears & Tulle, Bell launched She Really Let Herself Go, a live empowerment experience designed to reclaim a phrase often used to criticize women and redefine it as a declaration of freedom.
The 2nd Annual She Really Let Herself Go Luncheon will be held in 2027. Event details and tickets are available at:
