An innovative new production is drawing theater fans to downtown Chicago for quite the immersive experience.
"Theater of the Mind," which opened recently at The Reid Murdoch Building on LaSalle Street, has already been extended. The Chicago-premiere production runs to July 12.
From the mind of David Byrne, famously known for being the founder and frontman of the band The Talking Heads, and writer Maia Gaonkar, this experimental creation easily draws people into a different kind of immersive experience.
Think of it as theatrical vignettes that one experiences as they go from room to room, a progressive roaming show, if you will.

The premise of the 75-minute show is based on how we perceive our world through the various senses. The stories and experiences that unfold during visits to the different rooms are based on the lives of the show's creators.
"Theater of The Mind" is presented by The Goodman Theater and is part of The Goodman's Centennial 25/26 Season.
Sixteen audience members are allowed into the experience at a time and they are guided by a character named David. Actors that play David during the run are part of a cast that includes males, females and people of diverse heritages, which fits perfectly with Byrne's global life view.

During the unique show, audience members are guided into scenes including a funeral home, a disco room, a backyard, a kitchen and more. There are various optical illusions and other experiences to get audience members thinking of their own lives, the power of memory and how the mind works.
Think about reserving a ticket for this whimsical experience.
