Heather Hahn Sullivan of Dunes Learning Center was elected for a two-year term to serve as board president of the local Northwest Indiana Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP).

The Northwest Indiana Chapter was chartered in 2009 and serves Lake, Porter, and LaPorte counties. The chapter’s membership includes fundraising professionals in healthcare, hospice care, social services, education, arts and culture, and professional consultants. Members benefit from innovative education programs, networking and volunteer opportunities, special events, and programs for advanced executives, mid-level professionals, as well as those new to the field.

The AFP Northwest Indiana Chapter is a valuable, collaborative, and representative resource for the nonprofit community and serves as a model for thought leadership around philanthropy in a diverse and welcoming environment.

“I am excited to take on this leadership role for AFP which strives to stimulate a world of generosity and positive social good through fundraising best practices,” Sullivan said in a news release. “I am grateful for this opportunity to work alongside the dedicated and talented board members to plan educational programs and workshops for local members and to also represent the chapter at national conferences.”

Sullivan is a 16-year veteran in the nonprofit sector with a focus on environmental education at nature centers and museums. Her current role is Development and Marketing Director at Dunes Learning Center, the education partner of Indiana Dunes National Park. She has been an AFP member for 14 years and has served on the Northwest Indiana Chapter board since 2020.

The full AFP Northwest Indiana Chapter board includes Stephanie Anderson (treasurer), Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ; Kacie Ensign (secretary), Opportunity Enterprises; Maria Galka, VNA of Northwest Indiana; Cindy Hall, CFRE, Ivy Tech Community College; Judy Lindsey, Methodist Hospital Foundation; Lisa Schneider, CFRE, CFRM (president-elect); Kasandra Tenbarge, CFRM, United Way of Northwest Indiana; and Jacqueline Weber, Girls on the Run Northwest Indiana.
