
Art Barn School of Art is launching its fall educational programing, with the 6th annual Art Blitz celebration of the arts on its 69 pastoral acres on September 17 and 18.
A full array of art education programs is offered for adults and children including programs in watercolor, pastel, cyanotypes, ceramics and more. Art Barn’s on-going growth strategy has resulted in the expansion of art offerings and a corresponding increase in the number of students.

This fall’s educational offerings continue Art Barn’s 50-year history while demonstrating the success of its growth strategy. Although some classes are already at capacity, a number of spots remain available.
- Special this fall is Deliberate Design with returning guest artist Ratindra Das, providing a multi-day watercolor intensive with an internationally recognized artist.
- For youth, open offerings include Creativity Lab for ages 5 to 9, Youth Painting for ages 10 to 14.
- Adult sessions with open registration include Open Clay Studio, Painting with Pastels, and Introducing Watercolor.
- Special 1-day workshops on firing bisqued pottery in an oil barrel kiln is on September 10 and a Holiday Glass Workshop on November 12.
- Families and small groups can make festive holiday ornaments during a workshop on December 3.

Art Barn’s valued connection with the Indiana Dunes National Park and Friends of the Indiana Dunes continues with “Art in the Park” featuring an autumn themed painting project with instructor Lee Bauman on November 12.
Commencing an active fall schedule is Art Blitz fall festival, September 17 & 18 from 11:00am to 5:00pm both days. Art Blitz highlights the Art Barn’s educational art offerings with participatory activities, and collaborations with other arts organizations. The festival is designed to encourage visitors and residents of all ages to actively engage in various art activities.
Art Blitz will be the last time to view the current exhibit, “Progressions in Fabric”, featuring four artists from Plymouth IN. Compare the contrasting ways in which the artists use fabric from traditional to contemporary techniques.
Art Barn’s beautiful natural setting located at 695 N 400 E, Valparaiso provides the perfect backdrop for the engaging schedule of demonstrations and hands-on art activities for children and adults. The festival will also include live music, food, plus an exhibition of visiting artists from the region. Entry and parking are free. Activity tickets are available for purchase.
