Art Barn School of Art celebrates their new monarch butterfly habitat with Valpo Chamber during a ribbon cutting ceremony at 4:30 pm on May 23, 2023. The instillation of the Monarch-Marker Gardens supports the lifecycle of endangered monarch butterflies.
This family-friendly grand opening offers butterfly art activities, scavenger hunt and special prizes. Staff and volunteers will answer questions about the gardens, butterflies and pollinators as well as tours of the Art Barn grounds. Light bites and refreshments will be served.

Representatives from NIPSCO and Cleveland-Cliffs Foundation will make remarks along with Art Barn representatives.
Art Barn, which is now part of a world-wide network of Monarch waystations, converted nearly 460 square feet of planting beds to viable breeding and feeding habitat for monarch butterflies.
"We are thrilled to have the support of 2 leading corporations in the community - NIPSCO/NiSource Charitable Foundation and Cleveland-Cliffs Foundation", states Executive Director, Amy Davis Navardauskas.
"Both organizations have generously funded the installation of the habitat and related educational programs for this project. The garden is growing well and will support migrating butterflies this year!"
