Art Barn School of Art is excited to announce a unique opportunity for community members to get more deeply involved in supporting the arts, find new purpose, and share their expertise. Art Barn is currently seeking passionate, dedicated individuals to serve on its Board of Directors, with the goal of welcoming three new board members by January 1, 2026.
Since 1969, Art Barn has been inspiring artists and art lovers for generations. Looking toward the future, Art Barn is welcoming motivated community members to join its Board of Directors who are ready to help lead the organization into its next chapter of growth and impact through its 5-year strategic plan.

Art Barn is looking for “do-ers”—people who are ready to lead, support, and drive actionable change.
Ideal candidates will have a diverse and well-rounded expertise/experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Fundraising/Development
- Legal
- Human Resources
- Accounting/Finance
- Marketing & Communications
“I am fortunate to have the opportunity to work with the members of the board,” says Art Barn Executive Director Amy Davis-Navardauskas. “As a group, they are passionate about our cause, and as individuals, they support our work in ways that are meaningful to each of them. As we embarked on our strategic planning process, the members were integrally involved in establishing the path for the future.”
Art Barn's current passionate and engaged board consists of Julia Holmaas (President), Denise Kirkland (Vice-President), Samantha Schilla (Treasurer), Susan Arnold (Secretary), Charles Kirkland, Sandy Appleby, Harold Woodridge, James May, Dina Heijselaar, Alex Kozlowksi, Gloria Ruff, and Jennie Girton.
The Art Barn Board is responsible for stewarding Art Barn’s mission: "Inspire creativity across generations by providing an inclusive, nature-based space where artists of all skill levels can explore, experiment and grow through the arts", as well as supporting and promoting it's values, and strategic goals. Board members help provide financial, legal, and ethical oversight, while also shaping policies, protecting assets, and enhancing the organization's public image and reputation.
