Art Barn has rolled out a wide range of engaging and new classes and workshops that provide high quality arts education for children and adults. From crochet to watercolor, this is one of Art Barn’s largest releases of class offerings yet! There truly is something for everyone.
Fiber arts like crochet, felting, and weaving became popular creative outlets at-home during COVID, and Art Barn is tapping into this renewed interest in the ancient crafts of fiber and weaving. This fall season, Art Barn is offering a Raffia Coiled Basket class beginning September 26, 2024 for ages 18+, Intro to Crochet class beginning October 7 for ages 12+, and a Wet Felting Workshop on October 5, 2024 for ages 12+ or 6-11 with a parent. These classes are perfect for beginner to advanced levels, all taught by award-winning artists and experienced instructors.
Art Barn has been offering Guest Artist Workshops for the past decade with the goal to provide access to experienced teaching artists with international reputations to the local community. These guest artist workshops are designed to help adult students improve specific skills in an immersive group environment and to provide the opportunity for networking with other artists from the community and other areas of the country.
This fall, the Watercolor Society of Indiana (WSI) presents an Intermediate Watercolor Workshop on Saturday, October 19, 2024 for ages 18+. Learn to paint an autumnal pumpkin scene from Hoosier-born and award winning watercolorist Terry Armstrong. Art Barn will also be offering an advanced, multi-session watercolor workshop taught by Art Barn Board President and longtime watercolorist Julia Holmaas titled "Color and Surface" beginning November 1, 2024 for ages 18+. Learn from Julia to create vibrant, controlled watercolor works of art.
“I'm very excited about our fall class line up with new offerings and new instructors,” states Melissa Washburn, Program Manager at Art Barn. "Our new classes focusing on more advanced techniques will keep long-time students engaged and some of our new classes gives a whole new audience a reason to come see what we're about!"
