For a second year, Art Barn School of Art has partnered with the Das Gallery at Country Inn & Suites in Valparaiso to showcase work from local artists. Art Barn is excited to announce a new, upcoming exhibit featuring works from well-known local artist Julia Holmaas titled "Viewpoints", on display from November 11-January 6, 2025. An artist reception will be held at Country Inn & Suites, 2020 Laporte Ave, Valparaiso on Thursday, November 21, 2024 from 4:30-6:30pm, where visitors can meet the artist, Julia Holmaas, and enjoy light bites and refreshments.
"Viewpoints" features Holmaas's paintings inspired by places she's visited throughout the course of her life, translating her sight in to works of art. "The act of creating drawings and paintings allow me to see and more importantly feel and connect with my surroundings. I have been keenly observing and learning about the natural world since childhood, photographing, drawing and painting landscapes, flowers, trees, animals, and people." states Holmaas. She works in all kinds of paint mediums to create depictions of her natural surroundings, enveloping a sense of memory and nostalgia into each of her pieces.
