21c Museum Hotel Chicago is thrilled to host a free jazz and spoken word poetry event in collaboration with Free Fyre’s Rebirth Tour Sunday, May 22 at 6 p.m. Organized by Free Fyre, a collective of artists, performers and spoken word poets, the Rebirth Tour will travel nationally to cities across the country, including Chicago. Through jazz music and poetry, the Rebirth Tour will retell the story of the Harlem Renaissance, conveying the impact and influence of these artistic mediums on Black culture.

The Rebirth Tour also acknowledges the impact of society due to the COVID-19 pandemic and seeks to restore joy through music and spoken word in the same way jazz and poetry did for the Black community in the 1920s after the Great Influenza and Great Migration. The evening will include performances by Free Fyre co-founders Cameron L. Mitchell and Jazzmin Mitchell. Those interested in attending the event are encouraged to register for free by visiting here.
