You Asked, We Answered!

Question: My borrowed item didn't automatically renew, even though I have some renewals left. Why not?

Answer: Your item most likely had a hold request from another patron. When an item is requested by someone else, it no longer renews (otherwise the wait times would be very long indeed!)

Pro tip: If the library fills that hold request with another copy, there is a chance that you or a staff member can manually renew the item! The automatic renewal system tries to renew an item three days before it is due. If it can not, it will not try again even if the hold is filled - so that's your window for manual renewal.

It is also possible that your card expired, or is about to expire. If a renewal would make the item due after your card is expired, the item will not renew.
