The Gary SouthShore RailCats were powerless against the Kane County Cougars on a rainy Tuesday evening as they dropped a 3-0 contest. 

​​​​​​​The 2021 Frontier League Champion Schaumburg Boomers managed only three hits, but the pitching did the rest in a 3-2 win over the New York Boulders in the first ever meeting between the two teams.

**** Recommended **** Steppenwolf Theatre opened the new in-the-round Ensemble Theatre in Honor of Helen Zell with Seagull, a new version of Chekhov’s classic, The Seagull, adapted, translated and directed by Yasen Peyankov.  I’m not a Chekhov fan, so even though the production was very well done, the cast outstanding, I can’t get too enthusiastic.  Seagull is worth the trip.  3 ½ Spotlights

The Indiana Department of Education announced that the Gary Community School Corporation's Bailly STEM Academy is one of 15 schools newly certified in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). The recent addition brings the list of certified schools to more than 100 statewide.
