Third Annual NWI & I-65 Chili Cook-off

Get ready to spice things up at this ultimate chili cook-off, where bold flavors, friendly competition, and a great cause come together for a sizzling good time! The cook-off will be held on Saturday, May 3rd, and Sunday, May 4th at the I.U.O.E. Local 150 Hall located at 2193 W. 84 Pl., Merrillville.

Man’s Man Chili, LLC, a local chili spice mix business, is hosting this professionally sanctioned 2-day chili cook-off that brings cooks from around the country to compete for the best chili recipes. The event is managed by regional International Chili Society (ICS) representatives, Darin and Tonya Jester, who have been competitive cooks for more than 20 years.

The cost to sample is a $5 donation, which benefits the St. Jude House in Crown Point. New this year, they have partnered with the Indiana Chapter of the American Culinary Federation to create a youth division. Each day, regional youth who place first will be qualified to compete in the World Food Championships, which will be held in Indianapolis, October 16-19, 2025.

Interested in being a judge? Join free of charge and receive a custom challenge coin as a token of appreciation. Judges are needed for both Saturday and Sunday and should arrive by 11:00 AM. For more information, email info@mansmanchili.com or call 888-MMCHILI.

This cook-off is sanctioned by the Chili Appreciation Society International (CASI) and the ICS. CASI is the world's largest organization of chili and contest enthusiasts and sanctions nearly 400 contests, judging more than 15,000 cups of chili across the U.S. annually. The ICS has raised and donated close to $100 million to charities.

Come out and sample more than 40 chili recipes (while supplies last) and vote for your favorite! There will also be live music by local musicians. For more information visit www.mansmanchili.com.
