Katie Sannito, Munster Chamber of Commerce’s chairman of the board, welcomes businesses to join the organization and celebrate a century of being a steward in the local community.
“The chamber offers offer numerous opportunities for our members to connect and build new relationships,” she said. “We commit ourselves to nurturing the growth of our small businesses and working closely with our civic partners to build a more vibrant community.”
Currently more than 250 businesses are part of the Munster Chamber of Commerce and meet on the second Tuesday of every month for networking, mentorship and entrepreneurial education. The chamber offered five small-business workshops in 2024, ranging from crafting an effective elevator sales pitch to using artificial intelligence to boost sales.
The chamber began in May 1925 as an open community organization with a goal of discussing local concerns and potential civic projects. Some of its first projects focused on endorsing road improvements.
As the chamber evolved, the group’s priorities shifted to being an advocate for the local business community. In addition, the chamber proudly supported many outreach efforts, including the Munster Education Foundation, Munster High School, Munster Junior Women’s Club, Munster Police Department, Purdue Northwest Women on the Rise, Heroes Helping Heroes and the Munster Firefighters Association.
