Date:
Sun, 02/02/2025 - 1:00pm to 3:00pm

Lubeznik Center for the Arts (LCA) is presenting Black Girlhood Altar-Making Workshop, a free community workshop on Sunday, February 2, 2025, from 1–3 p.m. CST.

The workshop will be led by artist and co-founder of A Long Walk Home, Scheherazade Tillet, alongside leaders from the non-profit organization.

This inspiring workshop will explore themes of identity, healing and empowerment. The workshop is free, but space is limited, and RSVPs are required. To reserve your spot, please email ArtInfo@LubeznikCenter.org or call 219.874.4900.

The Black Girlhood Altar-Making Workshop is an empowering experience designed to teach participants the art of creating personal altars. Attendees will receive spiritual tools to foster their sacred practices at home, ensuring the continuation of their spiritual and healing journey beyond the workshop. Additionally, the workshop presents an opportunity for participants to contribute objects to the collective Black Girlhood Altar project, an ongoing artwork to honor the lives of Black women and girls who have gone missing or been murdered.

This engagement is supported by the Arts Midwest GIG Fund, a program of Arts Midwest that is supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, with additional contributions from Indiana Arts Commission. "Healers and Dreamers" is supported by Lynn and Allen Turner.

For more information, contact Jessie Sexton, LCA’s marketing manager, at (219) 874-4900 or jsexton@lubeznikcenter.org.
