Save the Dunes celebrates the journey and migration of the Monarch Butterfly with the Monarch Music Fest on Sunday, September 12th from 1:00-5:00 pm at Michigan City’s Brewery Lodge and Supper Club, 5727 N 600 W, Michigan City.

This September, join Save the Dunes as we celebrate the journey and migration of the Monarch butterfly through our region with music and food at Michigan City’s Brewery Lodge & Supper Club. 50% of the proceeds will benefit our work to protect and advocate for the Indiana dunes, Lake Michigan and the surrounding natural areas for the betterment of the environment, and the people who live, work and recreate in Northwest Indiana – including our hard-working pollinators!

We are thrilled to announce our incredible lineup!

  • Johnny V & Friends
  • Alex Akers
  • Chicken Dolphin Band

Don’t miss the opportunity to get your tickets early! Tickets start at $40 online. Each ticket includes entrance, a delicious bbq platter including BBQ Pork sliders, Pulled BBQ Jack Fruit Sliders (Vegetarian), Chips and Dip, Pasta Salad AND 2 beer tickets!!! How does Save the Dunes support monarchs and other pollinators?

The Monarch’s migration is one of the most incredible events in North America and has captivated people for centuries.

Monarch populations are in steep decline due to habitat loss and fragmentation, climate change, and pollution. Dedicated work across all sectors of society is underway to help Monarch populations recover. These efforts include planting milkweed (Asclepias species) essential for the Monarch’s survival and building awareness of the perils facing all pollinators, including the Monarch.

Save the Dunes is actively engaged in several pollinator conservation initiatives to foster protection in our natural areas and at home in our gardens. Our most recent initiative is the creation of Volume 2 of Living in the Dunes: A Homeowner’s Guide to Pollinator Garden Landscaping in Indiana’s Coastal Communities. The Guide provides rich content on the diverse ecosystems, incredible pollinator species, and beautiful native plants found throughout Northwest Indiana. It also provides the tools and inspiration to transform the everyday gardener into a powerful protector of native pollinators at home. Be sure to pick up your guide at the fest!
