Under Munster Town Ordinance 46-3, the owner and/or the occupant of any dwelling, building or subdivided lot or property shall make sure to keep the sidewalks in front thereof clean at all times of the year.

Within 24 hours after any fall of snow or formation or ice, such snow or ice shall be removed from the sidewalks. By doing so you are helping to promote safety for pedestrians, especially children walking to school.

It shall be unlawful for any person to throw, push or deposit in any manner snow, slush or ice onto any street or sidewalk in such a manner as to impede the safe progress and movement of vehicular or any pedestrian traffic. Violators may be cited by police.

Please contact CSO Kim Nordhoff at 219-836-6659 or knordhoff@munster.org to report any possible violations of the town’s ordinance
