Background
Indiana is the first state outside of California to adopt the successful coding program. As a part of Gov. Holcomb’s Next Level Agenda for 2018, the program launched in Indiana in April of that year, is training offenders with computer coding skills at Pendleton Juvenile Correctional Facility with the ultimate goal of aligning them with gainful employment upon release. The Last Mile is now serving five Indiana correctional facilities, close to a third of its total classrooms nationwide, with 67 active students. Learn more about The Last Mile at thelastmile.org.
