This past fall, Project SAFE opened up their annual Red Ribbon Week Poster Contest to every student in Lake County, grades K-12. Although this contest was not sponsored through the Munster Police Department, we encouraged Munster students to participate in an effort to promote safety and drug prevention.
Last month, we received word that Anna Romero, a sixth grade student at Wilbur Wright Middle School, had won the grand prize in the contest which consisted of a laptop computer and her poster being displayed on a billboard along Calumet Avenue in Hammond (pictured).
In addition, Anastazja Matyskiewicz, a ninth grade student at Munster High School, won 1st place in the high school division.
Laein Choi, a fifth grade student at Eads Elementary School, won 3rd place in the elementary school division. Both received Kindles as prizes.
Great work and congratulations to each of these students!
