Munster Police Chief Steve Scheckel was joined by several other police chiefs from around the region as they met with Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb in his office at the State Capital as he signed House Enrolled Act 1396 (“Stop the Bleed” Program) into law. The police chiefs were joined by State Representative Mike Andrade, State Senator Sandlin, and State Senator Crider.

The Stop the Bleed Program establishes the Stop the Bleed donation pool for the purpose of receiving donations or gifts or donations; provides that the Stop the Bleed donation pool is administered by the Department of Homeland Security; and provides that a public safety agency may request bleeding control kits or donations made to the pool. This program will make sure that all officers are able to carry tourniquets.
