On January 31st, police officers, civilian staff, and several K-9s from the Munster Police Department participated in the monthly Community Readers Day at Eads Elementary School.
Each year, a month is selected by the school where members of the police department all attend the event together to support this important reading program. This month’s message centered on “critical thinking” and each of the books helped to promote that message. Each of the officers and civilian staff attended a school assembly that featured a skit provided by the members of Eads Leads and they were also introduced to the students. They then proceeded to assigned classrooms to read books to the students where they also discussed how critical thinking is used in the course of their duties at the police department.
The Munster Police Department continues to enjoy participating in this positive event each year and appreciates Eads Elementary School for the invitation.
