Towle Theater’s first production of their 22nd season did not disappoint.
The musical, “The Mad Ones,” tells the story of 18- year-old, Sam ( played by Lauren Reece), who loses her impetuous best friend, Kelly (played by Madison Meeron), who is killed in an accident. Sam’s helicopter Mom, Beverly (played by Elizabeth Bushnell), and her high school boyfriend, Adam (played by Tony Clakins), have certain expectations of Sam. At this point in her life, Sam has decisions to make as she holds the keys to the car she inherited from Kelly in her hand. Does she follow the expectations others have for her or does she muster the courage to drive away into her own future?

The story focuses on how memories, trauma, and grief can alter life-changing decisions in a person’s life.
The set was minimal yet effective with the use of screens and backlighting.

“The Mad Ones” runs through March 9, 2025. Tickets for this show and the rest of the season can be purchased by calling 219.937.8780. The Towle Theater is located at 5205 Hohman Ave. Hammond, IN.
Note: Parking proved to be difficult for late arrivals as the usual lot is now gated. However, Emily Nelson, Executive Director, pointed out that parking at the Towle is still easier than parking in Chicago and she has been working on a solution to solve the parking issue.
