Sunday Hours Return to Merrillville Branch
Starting September 11, Merrillville Branch will once again be open on Sundays!
Sunday hours will be noon to 4 PM. Please stop in and see us!
Featured Program:
National Library Card Sign Up Month
September is National Library Card Sign Up Month! Join our honorary chairs, sisters Idina Menzel and Cara Mentzel, to find your voice at the library!
Kids (from birth to 8th grade) who get a library card this month, or who show the card they already have, will get some cute swag and a chance to win a $10 gift card.
The gift cards will be different at each branch, and you can only enter once, so choose carefully! Stay tuned to our social media to see what each branch is offering.

You Asked, We Answered!
Question: I was wondering if you have any questions/study guides for books. I'm tutoring someone in 4th grade readings. Right now in particular I'm looking for questions about Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Answer: We offer resources like this through our colletion of databases. Perhaps your best option would be TeachingBooks.
When I search there for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, I find five different lesson plans, two activity packs, two vocabulary lists, ten author/illustrator interviews, and quite a few other resources besides.
There are questions here, both specific comprehension questions and more general questions meant to enhance the students' reading.
There are also guides for reading, including a page for taking notes on story elements and a page with a Venn diagram for comparing and contrasting two different characters.
There are even some more "fun" elements, such as bookmarks to color, a maze, a word search, and other more open-ended activities.
TeachingBooks is available to anyone in the state of Indiana. Try it now!
