Theatre at the Center was rocking on February 22nd, with Heartless bringing the heavy metal sound of Heart to the stage. The high energy concert featured Lynn Lupo as Heart’s lead singer, Ann Wilson, Julie Bittner as Heart’s rhythm guitarist and back-up vocalist, Nancy Wilson.

In addition to Lupo and Bittner, Heartless includes Jeff Bruno on Guitar, Anthony Caruso on Drums, Jamie Wika on Bass, and Robb Pedraza on the Keyboard.
Between songs, Lupo shared anecdotes about Heart and the Wilson sisters, who grew up in a military family. Heart was the first rock band ever fronted by women. The fact that one of them played lead guitar blew the rock industry’s collective minds.

Lupo has a great voice, and it’s well suited to the ‘fire and fury’ of Heart’s signature lyrics. Bittner is a phenom on both electric and acoustic guitars – and she can sing! I love acoustic guitar, and she gave it her all on songs like Dog & Butterfly and Crazy on You. Her voice was made for a song like These Dreams!
The Heartless set list included songs like Magic Man, What About Love, Ann’s favorite, Alone, and of course, Heartless. They concluded the show with Stairway to Heaven, then when the audience roared for more, they sang an encore, mega-hit Barracuda.
