We believe everyone in the state of Indiana should have the opportunity to find the joy in creating, and we’re excited for this year’s conference to support those who facilitate that creating: the artists, arts organizations, community members, and arts teachers in our state that do the important job of communicating art skills and providing creative experiences for the very youngest to the very oldest and everyone in between.
Think community arts learning, audience engagement, arts education, arts workshops, residencies, and educational performances.
We're so excited to open the call for session and content proposals this year. We’re looking for content centered around the ideas, skills, networking and arts experiences YOU want to participate in. (Have an idea that you’d like to see someone else present? Suggestions are welcome too!)

It is important to us that sessions:
- Connect to this year’s focus in some way
- Support participant interaction
- Include a Call to Action and Teaching Goal
- Celebrate Hoosiers engaging their communities, build the skills of attendees to do so, OR BOTH
And here are the types of sessions we are looking for:
- Skills/How-To Session (30 or 60 min.) Information-building, skill-building or -sharing session on a topic or technique (e.g., Don’t Call Me Just Because It’s February, Advocating for the Arts)
- Meet Up, Chat, Networking, or Jam Session (30 or 60 min.) Moderated but informal conversation for an affinity group, topic, or opportunity
- Office Hours (30 or 60 min) Real-time Q&A with an expert (Nuts & Bolts: fundraising, legal, accounting, marketing, boards)
- Creative Warm-Up or Intermission (5-20-min. segments) Brief, live-streamed creative interactions: a performance; walking tour of an exhibit or cultural district; or shared creative activity for group participation
- Lightning Round (5-10-min. segments) For developing “sparks” of an idea into something new, test the waters and get feedback
- I will not be put in a box/Wild-Card (anything from 5 to 60 min.) For ideas that defy category definition
Curious about past sessions? 2020 is HERE.
Here's the process.
- How – Click NEXT at the bottom of this page to complete the proposal online.
- Who – IAC staff will select sessions in consultation with this year’s Steering Committee.
- When – Submissions should be completed by 5 pm ET Thursday, June 10. We’ll contact speakers in June-July.
- What – It is important to us that sessions:
- Connect to this year’s focus in some way
- Support participant interaction
- Include a Call to Action and Teaching Goal
- Build on past Homecomings, specifically community engagement and IDEA work
- Celebrate Hoosiers engaging their communities, build the skills of attendees to do so, OR BOTH
- Be relatable to folks from across the state and consider the needs of a wide audience
A few more expectations as you submit:
- You CAN submit more than one proposal, but we’ll probably only choose one of your sessions to make sure everyone has an opportunity to have their voice heard.
- Proposals can be from individuals or groups with no more than 3 speakers.
- It would be great if your session would be formed already when you propose, but we're realistic. At this point, we're asking for the topic and speaker(s). Tell us what you know and how you plan to proceed.
- We may ask that you revise your proposal, title or description.
- Selected speakers will be eligible for a small honorarium.
