Chicago Tap Theatre (CTT) has been sharing the creativity, history and joy of Tap dance for more than 20 years and is proud to announce its next production,Chicago Tap Theatre Live at the Den, Friday, Feb. 28 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, March 2 at 2 p.m. with a gala performance and reception, Saturday, March 1 at 2 p.m., on the Heath Mainstage at the Den Theatre, 1331 N. Milwaukee Ave. In addition to the Chicago Tap Theatre’s weekend full of performances, CTT hosts a screening of Lisa La Touche’s “TRAX,” Monday, March 3 at FACETS, 1517 W. Fullerton. Tickets for Chicago Tap Theatre Live at the Den are $35 - $75 for Friday and Sunday’s performances, $150 - $250 for the Saturday gala performance which also includes a pre-show reception with drinks and an extended intermission with food and drink. Chicago Tap Theatre Live at the Den is a show that truly encapsulates the creative essence of Chicago Tap Theatre (CTT). CTT’s latest production features a lively mosaic of choreographic talent with new works by Tap dancer, historian and filmmaker, Lisa La Touche, work by Rich Ashworth as well as the company's own Mark Yonally, Sterling Harris, Molly Smith, and Heather Latakas and others to live music provided by Music Director Jayden Richardson and a band.
“Chicago Tap Theatre Live at the Den gives an exciting insight into where Chicago Tap Theatre is in 2025 with world premieres from company members and the incomparable Tap legend Lisa La Touche performed to live music, led by Music Director Jayden Richardson,” said Chicago Tap Theatre’s Artistic Director Mark Yonally. “The gala also allows additional access for attendees to meet the company, one-on-one, while celebrating our past, present and future. So, whether you are new to CTT or a longtime fan, this new production showcases the incredible talents found at Chicago Tap Theatre.”

Chicago Tap Theatre hosts a screening of Lisa La Touche’s film “TRAX,” directed by La Touche and Joel Varjassy, in connection with Chicago Tap Theatre Live at the Den. “TRAX” tells the story of a Tap dancer who returns from Harlem to her home in Alberta, Canada and discovers unknown Tap ancestors sending her on a journey exploring the borderless Black history unimaginable right underneath her feet.

Founded in 2002, Chicago Tap Theatre is a growing and vibrant dance company dedicated to preserving the quintessentially American dance form of tap while taking it to the next level of creativity, innovation and quality. CTT performs exclusively with live music provided by some of Chicago’s finest musicians playing everything from Duke Ellington to David Bowie and many artists in between. Under the dynamic direction of master teacher and performer Mark Yonally, CTT has gained a loyal and sizable following in Chicago and continues to tour both nationally and internationally. Having pioneered the “tap opera” format, which tells stories with compelling characters and intriguing plots, CTT has used the language of tap dance, live music and narration to move audiences for more than 20 years.
