
The Cancer Resource Centre offers free educational programs and in-person/virtual mind/body/spirit classes and support groups to individuals in Northwest Indiana with a cancer diagnosis, their family members and their caregivers.

Yoga, Monday November 14, offered from 9 – 10 a.m. Breathe and stretch your body and mind. Yoga classes are therapeutic as well as restorative. Class will conclude with a relaxation segment to enhance overall well-being and peace.
Sound Healing, Monday November 14, offered from 11 – 12 p.m. The pure sounds of the crystal bowls will wash away stress and still the mind. Wear loose clothing; bring a blanket and pillow for comfort.
Reiki/Reflexology, Monday November 14, offered 1 – 3 p.m. by appointment only. Reiki complements all other healing arts; Reflexology, the practice of treating the whole body by touching the feet and sometimes the palms, is an especially valuable example of a therapy that complements Reiki successfully.
Wellness Support Group, Tuesday November 15, offered from 10 – 11 a.m. or 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. This support group meets to share feelings, receive support and learn ways to cope with the experience of having cancer.
Kitchen Rx, Tuesday November 14, offered from 2 – 3 p.m. The food choices we make have a huge impact on our overall health, but we don't always make healthy eating a priority. We think eating healthy is too expense, too difficult and takes too much time. The truth is a few small, simple changes can yield HUGE results in overall health. Choosing more real, nutrient dense foods has been shown to be even more beneficial than medication in helping manage and even reverse some of the symptoms of chronic disease. Food is one of the most powerful medicines we have in achieving optimum health, and the kitchen is our pharmacy. In this year-long healthy eating series, Mrs. Dornberg will provide information, tools and actionable steps that you can use to shop, cook and eat your way to better health.
Chi Gong, Thursday November 17, offered from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Learn this ancient healing art of breath, movement, non-movement and meditation. Experience this therapeutic form of Eastern medicine and feel revitalized. You will be led through a one hour session of warm-ups, positions and focused movements.
Meditation and Wellness, Thursday, November 17, offered from 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Your mood and mental health affect every aspect of your life, including how you feel about yourself, your relationship with others, and your physical health. In the group, you will learn about mindfulness, meditation, positive self-talk and other methods to improve the way you feel by changing the way you think.
Chair Yoga, Thursday November 17, offered from 2 – 3 p.m. Designed for those who have difficulty support in a regular yoga environment. You may sit or use a chair for balance. Kriya is a holistic, whole body experience; it works to calm the nervous system; strengthens and quiets the mind and body.
Breast Cancer Support Group, Thursday November 17, offered at Community Stroke and Rehabilitation Center from 6 – 7p.m. For all with a breast cancer diagnosis. Newly diagnosed to long term survivors are welcome to share their concerns, stories and experiences.
Tai Chi, Friday November 18, offered from 9 – 10 a.m. Tai Chi has been practiced for centuries by men and women of all ages and fitness levels. The art of Tai Chi is considered “Meditation in Motion”. Classes emphasize balance, posture, breathing techniques, concentration and complete relaxation.
