**** Highly Recommended The Towle Theater’s production of "Pippin" was a joy to watch. The choreography is very Fosse (of course, Bob Fosse choreographed the original), the music is amazing and I loved the funky costumes. By the way, the cast is incredible! I watched carefully as they were dancing and every hand/head/hip was in exactly the same place at exactly the same time. I did hear a tiny bit of feedback about the sad story, but otherwise, it’s a hit! Kudos to Co-Directors Jeff Casey and Jim LaPietra and Choreographer Nikki Dizon. Even more Kudos to Kevin Bellamy for the set and really unusual costumes – or in some cases, semi-costumes! 4 BIG Spotlight
The Schaumburg Boomers opened a big weekend road series by notching a 4-3 win in 10 innings over the Gateway Grizzlies on Friday night.
The RailCats were attempting to win a series for the first time since late June. The Cats defeated the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks 10-0 the day before and had Franklin Perez on the bump to face off against a struggling Redhawks team that had lost four in a row.
It is with great pleasure that the four-time Frontier League champion Schaumburg Boomers announce the return of a pair of players, Antonio Frias and David Harris, to the 2024 roster with 33 games to play.
The second half of the 2024 American Association season was set to begin for the Gary SouthShore RailCats. And awaiting them back at the US Steel Yard was an old rival, the third-place Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks.
**** Recommended I don’t know what I thought Northlight Theatre’s production of "2 Pianos 4 Hands" would be – a concert, maybe – but it turned out to be something quite different. It does feature concert-level performances but it’s more about the process of learning to play the piano than it is about the final product. It’s funny, heart-wrenching and a very good story. 4 Spotlights
The Schaumburg Boomers were swept by the Windy City ThunderBolts in a pair of games on Thursday night and the series as the late season frustrations continued with a 4-2 defeat in the continuation of a suspended contest and a 7-5 extra-inning loss in the second game.
