Kokandy Productions presents ‘Sweeney Todd in Concert’ Join us for this thrilling concert staging of the dark and entertaining Broadway hit musical. Cast members from the non-equity 2022 Jeff Awards “best production” reunite on stage.
“Sweeney Todd” has become a worldwide success on London’s West End and Broadway. It was awarded eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical for its Broadway premiere in 1979 with Angela Lansbury as Mrs. Lovett opposite Len Cariou as the title character. Sweeney Todd is an unjustly exiled barber who returns to 19th century London seeking vengeance against the lecherous judge who framed him and robbed him of his wife.
Theatre at the Center audiences will enjoy all the memorable songs, including “Not While I’m Around,” “The Worst Pies in London,” “By the Sea,” “Poor Thing” and, of course, “The Ballad of Sweeney Todd.”
Menu
- Tomato Soup with Grated Parmesan Cheese

Kokandy Productions of Chicago presents a concert staging of its hit 2022 revival of Stephen Sondheim’s macabre masterpiece, “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.”
Founded in 2010 by Bishop Noll alum and Whiting’s own Scot T. Kokandy, the production swept last year’s Jeff Awards and earned critical praise for the cast of 15, led by Kevin Webb and Caitlin Jackson, as partners in culinary crime – revengeful Sweeney Todd and London meat pie baker Mrs. Lovett.
