Lubeznik Center for the Arts (LCA) and the Lindsey O’Brien Kesling (LOK) Wishing Tree Foundation are proud to present the 12th annual LOK Young Artists Expo showcase on Friday, June 6 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. (Central) at LCA as part of their free First Friday programming.

This year’s exhibition is a vibrant showcase featuring exceptionally talented young artists, ages 7 to 18. Representing communities across the region, these young creatives work in a variety of media—from sculpture and textile arts to painting and digital artworks. Each artist was selected through a personalized portfolio review with LCA’s education director, highlighting their dedication, creativity and potential. Their imaginative works will be on display in LCA’s NIPSCO Art Education Studios from June 6 through July 11, 2025. Many of the artists choose to sell their works, offering visitors a chance to support the next generation of artists.

The evening begins with a young artists meet and greet at 5 p.m., followed by a presentation at 6 p.m. (Central). Timmy Barron, Second City of Chicago graduate and actor, will return as emcee entertaining the crowd with his comedy. The program includes performances by La Porte High School student Molly Cooper and South Shore Dance Alliance (SSDA) out of Merrillville, Ind., a longtime partner of the LOK Wishing Tree Foundation.

“There is nothing like the Young Artists Expo in our region. Students' dreams are realized as their art is fostered and given the opportunity to reach the public. Their expressive talents are performed or mounted on galleria walls for all to appreciate. LOK, LCA and SSDA break down barriers and make way for our next generation of creatives,” said Dot Kesling, co-founder of LOK Wishing Tree Foundation.

Guests can also explore LCA’s additional galleries while enjoying complimentary appetizers and a cash bar. On view through June 15, "Ordinary Wonders" features the work of artists Jessica Labatte and Cecil McDonald, Jr., who each use photography in contrasting ways to reveal the extraordinary beauty found in everyday moments. All of LCA’s galleries are open to the public six days a week, with free admission.

The LOK Young Artists Expo is made possible through a meaningful and ongoing partnership between LCA and the LOK Wishing Tree Foundation. LOK stands as a “living legacy to Lindsey O’Brien Kesling,” with a dual mission: to raise awareness about carbon monoxide safety and to empower young people to reach their full potential. Through a wide range of creative and performing arts opportunities, LOK helps youth discover their talents and pursue their dreams. LCA is committed to making exceptional cultural experiences accessible to all ages in our community.
