As the nation observes National Police Week, the Indiana State Police honors the dedication, sacrifice, and service of law enforcement officers across the country. National Police Week, which runs from May 12th to May 18th, pays tribute to those who have lost their lives in the line of duty and recognizes the commitment of all officers who serve and protect their communities.

This week holds a special significance as we also observe National Peace Officers Memorial Day on May 13th. On this solemn day, we remember and honor the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice while safeguarding our communities. Their courage, selflessness, and unwavering commitment to duty will never be forgotten.

"This week is a time for us to come together as a law enforcement community and as a nation to remember our fallen heroes and their families," said Lt. Tom McKee, Indiana State Police Lafayette District Commander. "Their sacrifice will never be forgotten, and we must continue to honor their memory by upholding the values of service, integrity, and bravery that they exemplified."

As we reflect on the sacrifices of our fallen heroes, let us also renew our commitment to supporting and protecting those who continue to serve on the front lines of public safety. Together, we can build safer communities and honor the legacy of those who have given their lives in service to others.
