Tough night at the office: RailCats baffled by Lincoln lefty Wooten


Eric Wooten kept the RailCat offense off-balance for 8 1/3 innings and Christian Ibarra broke open a scoreless game with a three-run homer in the fifth inning to pace Lincoln to a 5-1 victory in front of 3.496 fans on Office Wednesday at the U.S. Steel Yard. With the loss, the RailCats dropped their first series since July 9-11 vs. Texas and finish the six-game homestand 3-3.

Pugh’s 12th inning walk-off blast lifts Gary to 2-1 win


Leading 1-0 with two outs in the top of the ninth, Lincoln tied the game on an RBI single from Curt Smith, however, Gary departed U.S. Steel Yard with the win courtesy of Tillman Pugh’s walk-off home run in the bottom of the 12th. The walk-off victory was Gary’s fifth of the year, increased the RailCats extra-inning record to 5-1 and evened the series.

RailCats 9th inning rally not enough in 4-3 defeat


Gary scored twice in the bottom of the ninth and had the tying run reach first base with two outs after Reggie Wilson reached base for the fourth time of the night with a walk, however, D.K. Carey flew out to right to end the game as the ‘Cats fell to the Lincoln Saltdogs, 4-3, in the series opener. Despite Monday’s loss Gary remains ahead of the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks for first place in the North Division.

BUMP, SET, SPIKE! Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana’s – Duneland Club Offering Volleyball League


It is time to get ready to BUMP, SET, and SPIKE for Duneland Boys & Girls Club’s 2018 Volleyball League! League registration begins July 23 and is open to all girls and boys from grades 3rd through 8th. The Club’s Volleyball League season will run from September 18 through November 17. All teams will have one practice during the week and an eight game schedule. All games will be played on Saturday at the Club.
