The goal of Phi Psi’s 500 Week of Service is to generate 500 hours of service collectively throughout the week. The organization generating the most hours per member is awarded a $500 gift to be given to the winning organization’s charity of choice.

“When Ethan Stoppenhagen, a Valparaiso University student and a Phi Kappa Psi member first approached me about this amazing week, I didn't hesitate one second to partner with this very philanthropic group of individuals,” states Kristina Balog, club director of Valparaiso Boys & Girls Clubs. “At the Club, we teach leadership and character development to our Club members. For them to see, firsthand, what people are doing and willing to do for them and their Club only inspires them to do the same for others. I always welcome volunteers into our Club family as they have a lot of talent to share for the common purpose of helping kids,” Balog explains further.

Any volunteer work completed during this week-long initiative is counted toward the fraternity’s goal of 500 service hours. Ethan and other Phi Psi members also are encouraging additional service opportunities with Boys & Girls Clubs. “Such opportunities, like how are partnering with the Boys & Girls Clubs, often leads to long-term volunteering relationships with community organizations,” states Ethan, the Phi Psi member coordinating efforts with the Valparaiso Club.

Interested in volunteering, call the Club and see how you can be part of this 500 Week of Service initiative or other Club service opportunities. (219) 464-7282, Extension 224.
