South Shore Arts is thrilled to bring back the popular Family Arts Fest on Sunday, May 5, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Center for Visual and Performing Arts, 1040 Ridge Road, Munster, Indiana.

Families are invited to participate in a series of art workshops in all three South Shore Arts studios, fun for all ages. South Shore Arts instructors will do live demonstrations of ceramic wheel throwing and paint pouring.

Play with and learn about instruments in a musical playground provided by local nonprofit, Rockopelli. Trama Catering will provide free sweets and snacks. Families can participate in face painting, balloon animals, and caricature portrait drawing during the festivities. Theatre at the Center will have a meet and greet with Belle from Beauty and the Beast!

In galleries view the 50th Annual Tri-County Junior/ Senior High School Exhibition. See over 900 different artworks from 32 different schools in Lake, Porter, LaPorte and Cook County. The award ceremony will be held at 1:00 p.m. with over $10,000 awarded to students.

In the Meeting Room Gallery, South Shore Arts’ Hammond Scholarship Program and the Teen Arts Board will have an exhibit showcasing the work accomplished this year.

The Youth Symphony Orchestra will perform a Spring Concert at 3:00 p.m. in the Theatre. Tickets are required for this event and can be purchased at the box office or at nisorchestra.org.
