Indiana Ballet Theatre’s (IBT) annual modern-contemporary dance concert KALIEDOSCOPE returns to the stage Saturday, June 19th at the Hoosier Theatre in Whiting, IN.

Kaliedoscope Director/IBT Associate Artistic Director said since the concert’s inception in 1999. “Contemporary dance is a diverse and dynamic form of expressive dance. Audiences return year after year to enjoy IBT’s contemporary showcase that connects movement to the human experience,” Tuohy said. This year, the concert hosts a new full-length contemporary ballet, choreographed by Lindsey Lanham, former company member and IBT guest teacher. While IBT performed their “Cinderella” ballet in May for audiences, she said Kaliediscope, exhibits another side to IBT, expressing dancer virtuosity.

Tuohy said this year’s Kaliedoscope production, titled “Opal Rey Trinity,” is particularly special to IBT as it is a tribute performance to Molley Lanham, choreographed by Molley’s sister Lindsey Lanham, who is now attending law school in New York. Molley and her two sisters, Lindsey and Lauren, danced at IBT since they were grade-schoolers. The Lanham family has since been an integral part of the IBT family. This performance celebrates and honors Molley’s life and legacy through choreography by her sister.

What can audiences expect? “Opal Rey Trinity is an inspirational dance concert with dancers devoted to expressing Lindsey’s story and movement; it’s both breathtaking and beautiful,” Tuohy described. Performed by a cast of 16 from IBT Company, ranging from the organization’s pre-professional and adult professional dancers, and alumni, Kaliedoscope is a one-day only performance, offering two showtimes.

Kaliedoscope is an all-ages performance and IBT Company will once again take the stage at Whiting’s historic Hoosier Theatre. Located in the heart of the city at 1335 119th Street and is one of the last vaudeville theatres in the state of Indiana.

Kaliedoscope tickets for the June 19th shows at 1pm and 7pm are available online at www.IBTNW.ORG/EVENTS or call 219.755.4444.
