Trekkies will Love "A Klingon Christmas Carol"

Klingon Christmas Carol.jpg

OK, I’ll admit it, I’m a Star Trek fan. In fact, I’m a collector of anything Star Trek, so when I got an email inviting me to review the Commedia Beauregard production of “A Klingon Christmas Carol”, it was a no brainer. What a fun show ... I am in awe! I give “A Klingon Christmas Carol” 4 Spotlights.

L'arc en Ciel (LCTG) sells out "Rumors" by Nancy Konopasek

Rumor has it that there was an entertaining comedy production in Cedar Lake, Indiana. The Neil Simon play, Rumors, has just completed its sell-out performance run at L’arc en Ciel (LCTG) Theatre Group.

Marian Theatre Guild's "Spamalot" will Keep You Laughing!

In 2004, I was thrilled to see the Chicago preview of the 2005 Broadway smash hit, “Monty Python’s Spamalot,” Eric Idle’s musical version of the 1975 film, “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.” Last week, I saw the fabulous Marian Theatre Guild production of “Spamalot”. I said it then, and I’ll say it again, I love “Spamalot.”

The Small Set will Love "Click, Clack, Boo! A Tricky Treat"

My granddaughter Molly, who is four, really enjoyed “Click, Clack, Boo! A Tricky Treat”. Molly liked Cow the best because she was funny! If you’re looking for a treat for your children/grandchildren, a trip to Lifeline Theatre might be just the ticket. “Click, Clack, Boo! A Tricky Treat” is brand new – Lifeline’s adaptation is the world premiere, while the book hit the bookstores in August. Molly and I give it 4 Spotlights.

Edgy "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" at Chicago Street Theatre

Over the years I’ve been reviewing, I’ve come to expect solid performances in edgy plays at CTG’s Chicago Street Theatre. Their new production, “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde”, fits that criteria perfectly, it’s dark, erotic and intense. A theater-lover’s Halloween treat, “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” is a definite must-see.

Comedy and Intrigue in “She’s No Angel: A Murder in Noirville”

If you love those old Hollywood film noir detective stories, you’ll love Beatniks’ new production, “She’s No Angel: A Murder in Noirville”, complete with the requisite cliché characters – the tough detective, the dangerous blonde and the trigger-happy gangster.
