Chicago Fire Soccer Club Exercises Contract Options on Six Players

Yesterday, the Club announced that it had exercised its 2019 contract option on forward Elliot Collier.

The club declined contract options on seven players: Jonathan Campbell, Drew Conner, Michael de Leeuw, Daniel Johnson, Patrick McLain, Yura Movsisyan and Luis Solignac.

Campbell, Conner, de Leeuw, McLain, Movsisyan and Solignac are eligible to participate in the MLS Re-Entry Draft. Johnson is eligible for the MLS Waiver Draft.

Eight players are guaranteed for next season, including Mo Adams, Nicolas Del Grecco, Aleksandar Katai, Grant Lillard, Dax McCarty, Djordje Mihailovic, Nemanja Nikolic and Richard Sanchez.

Johan Kappelhof, Matt Polster and Bastian Schweinsteiger are out of contract.

The club is continuing negotiations with de Leeuw, Kappelhof, Polster and Schweinsteiger.

The Fire's 2019 roster currently stands at 15 players:

Defender (3): Jorge Corrales, Nicolas Del Grecco, Grant Lillard

Defender/Midfielder (1): Nicolas Hasler

Defender/Midfielder/Forward (2): Diego Campos, Raheem Edwards

Forward (2): Elliot Collier, Nemanja Nikolic
