Spotlighting events along the south shore of Lake Michigan

Registration for Snowflurry 2019 Event Begins January 8th!

The event is held as an extension of the police department’s Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) Program each year and includes games, peer mentoring, crafts, music, snacks, and a closing ceremony attended by parents. The event drew 250 fifth graders last year, who were led in the activities by approximately 150 Munster High School students.

Pre-registration is required in order to participate. Fifth grade teachers will be providing each of their students with permission slips this week, which must be turned back into teachers by no later than Thursday, January 24th. No late entries will be accepted. The cost for each student is $10.00, with checks made out to Eads Elementary School. Each participating student will receive a commemorative Snowflurry t-shirt to wear to the event that day. Please encourage your fifth grader to be a part of this fun and memorable event this year. For more information, please contact your child’s teacher or D.A.R.E. Officer James Ghrist at 836-6639 or

HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: We are in need of 160 Munster High School student volunteers to help out with this year’s event. If you are interested, please sign-up in Student Services near Officer Isenblatter’s office before the sheet fills up, which always happens fast.
