Governor's Arts Awards will close 2018 Indiana Arts Homecoming

The Indiana Arts Commission (IAC) announced today that the 2018 Indiana Governor's Arts Awards will be the closing event of this year's Indiana Arts Homecoming statewide convening October 18 - 19, 2018 at the Arts Campus in downtown Fort Wayne, Indiana.

54th CHICAGO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES WINNING POSTER DESIGN

Cinema/Chicago and the 54th Chicago International Film Festival announced the winner of 2018’s poster design competition, Chicago’s own Michael Zhang. Zhang’s design will be the signature look of the Festival, held October 10th through 21st.

Lyric Opera of Chicago launches its 64th season with the 18th annual Stars of Lyric Opera at Millennium Park concert at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion on Friday, September 7 at 7:30 p.m. The free outdoor performance, presented in cooperation with the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, annually attracts capacity crowds to the pavilion, great lawn, and surrounding areas of the park.

The Cleve Carney Art Gallery, located at 425 Fawell Blvd on the College of DuPage campus, opens its 2018-2019 season with “On Anxiety,” Aug. 31-Oct. 13. The exhibition of paintings, curated by Gwendolyn Zabicki, features work by Matthew Bollinger, Alexander Bradley Cohen, Jennifer Dierdorf, Ethan Gill, Justin John Greene, Mika Horibuchi, Hai-Hsin Huang, Ben Murray, Veronika Pausova, Celeste Rapone and Brandi Twilley.

LCSO Announces Auditions for New Musicians

The LaPorte County Symphony (LCSO) and Interim Music Director, Charles Steck, announce auditions for the 2018-2019 season. Auditions will take place August 28, 2018 from 7:00pm to 9:45pm at the La Porte High School (Door 15) located at 602 F Street.

The immigrant experience and evolution of diversity in America is highlighted by one of the nation’s most diverse orchestras, Chicago Sinfonietta, and their spectacular, multimedia program of I.D.: Images of Diversity. Following its Millennium Park performance in early September, I.D.: Images of Diversity officially kicks off the Chicago Sinfonietta’s 2018-2019 season. The orchestra and select special guests will perform concerts that invoke themes of the American Dream from several cultural perspectives on Saturday, September 22 at 8 p.m. at Wentz Concert Hall at North Central College, 171 E. Chicago Ave., Naperville, and Monday, September 24 at 7:30 p.m. at the Symphony Center, 220 S. Michigan Ave., Chicago.

Donation Honors Vets with Free Admission to Annual Arts Fest

A $2,500 donation to Lubeznik Center for the Arts (LCA) by the Michigan City Public Art Committee (MAC) will honor veterans by inviting them to attend LCA’s annual summer arts festival for free.

With September 8, 2018 just around the corner, the La Porte County Sypmhony Orchestra (LCSO) eagerly announces the Guest Conductor for their 13th annual Hoosier STAR fundraiser! After stepping down at the end of the season this past May, longtime conductor, Phillip J. Bauman, retired his LCSO baton. For the first time since its inception in 2006, Hoosier STAR will welcome a new face to the podium, Maestro Alastair Willis!
