Pulitzer Prize finalist & Chicago native brings "Unsettlement Anthems" to MCA in April

Under the leadership of President and Artistic Director Josephine Lee, Chicago Children’s Choir (CCC) proudly welcomes home longtime CCC alumnus and 2018 Pulitzer Prize finalist Ted Hearne to present “Unsettlement Anthems,” an evening-length program of Hearne’s works, in two performances only, Monday and Tuesday, April 1-2 at 7:30 p.m. at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA), 220 E. Chicago Ave. Lee and Hearne will co-direct the world-renowned Voice of Chicago, CCC’s premier mixed-voice ensemble, through an exploration of Hearne’s provocative, sociopolitical, and multi-stylistic works. Tickets, priced at $25.00, go on sale on Tuesday, February 19 at 11:00 a.m. at www.ccchoir.org/unsettlement.

2019 Indiana Arts Homecoming Session Proposals Due March 1st

The Indiana Arts Commission is looking for proposals for break-out sessions for the next Arts Homecoming October 24-25, 2019. The Arts Homecoming is a way to connect with artists, arts organizations, arts advocates, and community leaders at Indiana’s statewide two-day arts conference in Indianapolis.

The Collection Unveils Derrick Adams Lighting Installation and Rotating Exhibition by 2018 Olympic Costume Designer

THE COLLECTION: Where Art Meets Fashion, the multifaceted contemporary art program of Fashion Outlets of Chicago, will welcome a permanent lighting installation by Derrick Adams and a rotating exhibition by 2018 Olympic costume designer Dr. Keysook Geum to the shopping center this February. Adams’ lighting installation will be located outside Fashion Outlets of Chicago at its grand entrance, accompanying the artist’s seven-story mural that was unveiled in October 2018. Dr. Geum’s ornate sculptural forms will be on view in display cases located throughout Level Two of the shopping center from February 12 – September 6, 2019.

Beginning Mosaic Class at the Chesterton Art Center

Sue Coombs will be teaching a Beginning Mosaic class starting March 7 from 6:30-9:00 at the Chesterton Art Center. This 6-week class will cover the basic techniques, tools, and materials used in contemporary mosaics. Proper adhesives, substrates, design/layout, grouting, and how to cut glass will be discussed and demonstrated. Experimentation with color and texture is part of the discovery of this beautiful art form. Students may use their own design, or choose from provided designs to create an indoor mosaic.
