Roll Over Semi Blocks I-80/94 West Bound Traffic

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Corey Adam revealed that at approximately 4:01 p.m., this afternoon, a 2016 Freightliner pulling double trailers loaded with Fed Ex packages, owned by Sunlight Logistics out of Edina, Minnesota, and driven by Nuur Mohamed, 43 of Sioux Falls, Iowa was on the ramp from the Indiana Toll Road entering onto I-80/94 west bound interstate. Mohamed took the ramp took fast to negotiate the curve as he tried to enter west bound I-80/94 and lost control. The second trailer began to jack-knife, went off the road onto the outer shoulder and into the grass. The semi started to roll over going across all lanes of west bound traffic and rolled onto its passenger side. While it was sliding across it struck a 2018 Chevrolet Traverse that was in the left lane, driven by Alexandre Volpato, 38 of Rochester Hills, Michigan on its front passenger side. As Volpato was braking he was hit in the rear by a 2017 Nissan Rouge, driven by Amethyst Romo, 19 of Chicago, Illinois. No driver was injured.

The roadway was completely opened at 6:36 p.m.
