Today at approximately 05:51pm Trooper Sean Schaefer was patrolling on I-65 near the 174mm. He observed a silver 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe being driven northbound in excess of 100mph. As Trooper Schaefer was approaching the vehicle, it sped off at a high rate of speed. Trooper Schaefer was able to return to his vehicle and initiate a vehicle pursuit. The vehicle continued northbound on I-65 for approximately 20 miles at speeds in excess of 100mph. The vehicle attempted to exit I-65 at the 193mm when it crashed on the exit ramp.

The vehicle was occupied by four subjects, two of which exited the vehicle after crashing and fled on foot. The driver and front seat passenger who had fled were both apprehended nearby.
