Fletcher, who began Jan. 7, 2019, was hired after the Child Welfare Policy and Practice Group’s agency-wide assessment in June highlighted the need for a specialized Medicaid expert. Fletcher will oversee and implement new strategies to help the department maximize Medicaid funding to ensure those helped by DCS receive necessary and appropriate services. He will mentor and grow the Medicaid knowledge of key DCS staff members, partners and stakeholders to ensure more immediate access to health and behavioral health screens and services for children in DCS care.

“Christopher has invaluable experience working with the oftentimes complex Medicaid system,” DCS director Terry Stigdon said. “His unique knowledge will make sure we as an agency offer even more support for the children and families we interact with daily.”

Fletcher hails from the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration, where he served as director of the reimbursement section for the office of Medicaid policy and planning. There, he coordinated and evaluated policies and programs to ensure FSSA compliance with the state’s Medicaid management information system.

“DCS is making real strides to improve the service it provides to Hoosier children,” Fletcher said. “I’m honored to join the agency at such a pivotal time.”

Fletcher lives in Camby, Ind. He received his Bachelors of Science from Indiana University and his Masters of Business Administration from University of Indianapolis.
