Sesame Street Live! Make Your Magic to Appear at The Chicago Theatre, Feb. 9-10


Everyone’s invited on an amazing journey with Elmo to discover the “power of yet” in Sesame Street Live! Make Your Magic. Featuring favorite Sesame Street pals Elmo, Abby Cadabby, Big Bird and more in a brand-new, magical adventure live on stage. Sesame Street Live! Make Your Magic will visit Chicago on Saturday, Feb. 9, and Sunday, Feb. 10, for six performances at The Chicago Theatre. Sesame Street Live! Make Your Magic is produced by family entertainment giant, Feld Entertainment, in partnership with the non-profit educational organization Sesame Workshop.

CHF announces its 30th Anniversary will be the Year of Power, Melinda Gates will headline 4th annual Springfest


The Chicago Humanities Festival announced that its 30th anniversary theme will be Power and that global philanthropist and champion for women’s empowerment Melinda Gates will headline its 2019 Springfest.

February Exhibits at the Chesterton Art Center

BNI Drama Department to present 'Zombie Prom'


Bishop Noll Institute’s Drama Department will present the musical “Zombie Prom” March 15-17 in the BNI auditorium, 1519 Hoffman St. Enter Door C. Show times are 7:30 p.m. March 15 and 16 and 2:30 p.m. March 17.

Chicago Opera Theater’s (COT) Board of Directors today announces the promotion of Ashley Magnus to the role of Stefan Edlis and Gael Neeson General Director. Previously the company’s General Manager of Strategy and Development, Magnus will join Orli and Bill Staley Music Director Lidiya Yankovskaya at the helm, making COT one of few multimillion-dollar opera companies led by women at both the board and executive level. Magnus assumes her new role immediately.

Friday Morning Watercolor Class at the Chesterton Art Center


Dick Church will be offering a 6-week Beginning/Intermediate Watercolor Class at the Chesterton Art Center starting Friday, February 15 from 10-12. Dick will lead students through a variety of watercolor techniques - a perfect class for the first-time painter or a wonderful refresher for the mildly experienced.

Monday Night Ceramics at the Chesterton Art Center


The Chesterton Art Center will be starting a new session of Monday Night Ceramics on February 18 from 5:30-8:30. During this 5-week class, beginning students will develop fundamental wheel-throwing techniques, while returning students will refine their techniques to create more complex forms.

February Critique Night at the Chesterton Art Center


Local painter, Mark VanderVinne, will host Critique Night at the Chesterton Art Center on Wednesday, February 6 at 7:30. Guests are welcome to show up, with no prior registration required. All ability levels and artistic styles are encouraged to attend. While Mark is a painter, he will be able to advise artists in other mediums as well.
