How To Add to Spotlights

To add an article or event to one of the Shore News Spotlights, just follow these easy steps:

Select the type of content you want to add from the "Create Content" menu.

For Events Spotlight

  1. Type or copy (Ctrl+c) and paste (Ctrl+V) the first paragraph of your Event article in the "Teaser" section. NOTE: Please don't copy and paste directly from Word. Copy and paste to Wordpad or Notepad first, then recopy and paste to web page.
  2. Enter the starting date's information. Please be sure to select am or pm for the Event's starting time.
  3. If this is an all-day event, place a checkmark in the "All day" checkbox.
  4. Enter the ending date's information. Please be sure to select am or pm for the Event's ending time.
  5. Enter a "Title" for your Event. Please keep the Title short and sweet.
  6. Type or copy (Ctrl+c) and paste (Ctrl+v) your entire Event article into the "Body" section. Create paragraphs by pressing the enter key twice. Typing a link like www.somedomain.com will create an active link automatically.
  7. Scroll down the page and select "Scheduling options" by clicking on it. In the text area for Unpublish on: enter the Event's ending date and time in the following format: yyyy-mm-dd h:m:s. The time is based on a 24-hour clock. For example, an Event that has a ending date of December 31, 2007 at 11:00 pm would be entered as 2007-12-31 23:01:00.
  8. You may preview your Event by pressing the "Preview" button. NOTE: If you Preview, you must also use Submit or your Event will not be published.
  9. Publish your Event by clicking on the "Submit" button

Your Event will appear on the Shore Events Calendar as well as the Event Spotlight page.

Repeating Event

If you need a Repeating Event posted to the Shore Events Calendar, please post your information in the Forums. We'll be glad to post your repeating event for you!

All Other Spotlights

  1. Type or copy (Ctrl+c) and paste (Ctrl+V) the first paragraph of your Event article in the "Teaser" section. NOTE: Please don't copy and paste directly from Word. Copy and paste to Wordpad or Notepad first, then recopy and paste to web page.
  2. Enter a "Title" for your Article. Please keep the Title short and sweet.
  3. Type or copy (Ctrl+c) and paste (Ctrl+v) your entire article into the "Body" section. Create paragraphs by pressing the enter key twice. Typing a link like www.somedomain.com will create an active link automatically.
  4. If you'd like to attach an image to your Article: Scroll down the page and select "Attached Images" by clicking on it. Click on the "Browse" button, then select the image from your computer's directory. For "Image Title", keep the Image Title very short and simple.
  5. Scroll down the page and select "Scheduling options" by clicking on it. In the text area for Unpublish on: enter and ending date and time for your Article in the following format: yyyy-mm-dd h:m:s. The time is based on a 24-hour clock. For example, an Event that has a ending date of December 31, 2007 at 11:00 pm would be entered as 2007-12-31 23:01:00. We suggest a maximum of a 3-month period.
  6. You may preview your Event by pressing the "Preview" button. NOTE: If you Preview, you must also use Submit or your Event will not be published.
  7. Publish your Event by clicking on the "Submit" button
